DVD Frequently Asked Questions

Why DVD?

DVD is the latest medium to store your memories. Unlike videotape, which can wear, stretch and break with repeated use, a DVD will be just as clear after hundreds of plays as it was on the first play. DVDs can last hundreds of years with reasonable care. A video has a average life of just 10 years or so. Now your children, and their children, will be able to enjoy those memories for a lifetime and beyond! DVD is the way to preserve your precious memories for a lifetime!

Which DVD Players will work with the Digital Depot DVDs?

Our DVDs will play on approximately 95% of the DVD players in distribution. Because of differing DVD formats, some players will not read a our DVDs. For a Compatibility List, click here.

What are Chapters?

Chapters are specific scenes that you have chosen within your video. By indexing your video into separate chapters, you can skip to any chapter quickly and directly (without having to fast-forward).

How do I select Chapters?

The Order Form has a section to fill out to select your Chapters (Deluxe Transfer Only). Up to 8 Chapters are included in our Deluxe Transfer. Rewind your tape to the beginning, set your counter to 000, and note the minutes and seconds from the beginning of your tape that each Chapter occurs. Fill in these time indicators in the 8 areas provided on the Order Form. (Chapter 1 might be the beginning, Chapter 2 might be at 4 minutes and 35 second, Chapter 3 might be at 22 minutes and 15 seconds, and so on...). We will try our best to be as precise as possible but, since counters on different machines are slightly different, we cannot guaranty that the chapters will be right on the frame you selected. There could be a second or two difference in time.

Can I view the Digital Depot DVDs on my computer?

For computer viewing, your DVD requires a Pentium II PC, 266MHz or higher, Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP, DVD-ROM drive, 64MB RAM, DVD playback software, 16-bit color: 800x600 or a Macintosh running OS 9.0.4 or higher, with a generation-3 DVD-ROM* drive, 64MB RAM, DVD playback software.

If you do not select the chapter times, or the times are not readable, or if you just want us to do it, we will make those selections for you.Fill in your name address, and phone number and email address (if available).
